Any one know a rain dance?

images via flickr photograpy by victor eredel
I am a little late for Friday Faves and the whole of last week really. I have had a lurgy and generally feeling a little crappy along with two small children playing a game of fever swap. Feeling a little hot under the collar today I eyed off the pool thinking it may take the edge off and then remembered we have no water to fill it. We are ordering water almost weekly now for our tanks, the first time in four years. The weatherman keeps dropping the word showers into the forecast, I think as some course of reverse pychology daring it to actually happen. It's time to get serious, dust of those tap shoes and get some sort of rain dance happening. It's sounds just as promising as shooting canons into the clouds, hang on there are none of those either. ARGHH!

It's not you it's me ...

image via vi.sualize.us
We have had a tumultuous relationship, you have been there in the hard times and the good. At some point though I lost my way. I feel the relationship has become codependent and before the sweet turns sour I think we should.......take a break. I have tried being "just friends" but it never seems to work out. I think space is what we need - I'm afraid there is no room for you here, not in the fridge, not in the freezer and not in that secret corner of the cupboard. Let's give it some time and take it slowly from there, one 70% cocoa piece at a time.

Bright Ideas

I love this lamp from Daisy Chain Vintage on Etsy - just when you think you've got the world on your shoulders, you have a little friend to give a helping hand or two.

Summer on My Mind

Images via content-agency.com photographer simon kenny

The talk around here is all about the summer holidays, possibly this is only the focus of my talk, regardless, summer is in the air. Spring is the appetiser with the flowers ,the clear skys, cool breezes and change of wardrobe. (the irony here is our tanks are empty and I would kill for a good torrential downfall). Then comes summer, we seek the sun but look for shade, we long for the heat but constantly try to stay cool - it's love-hate, the basis of all passionate relationships. This summer I think I will choose to be in the home above feeling cool and looking dewy in shades of white, rather than in a lather somewhere else, anywhere else really.

And bend ....

image via toriejayne on flickr
This is it - I have been coasting along pretending it will all work itself out - as of tomorrow I will not procrastinate (yes I am aware this is an oxymoron), I will exercise regardless of time be it not enough or not the right time, I will stop stop stop eating my secret chocolate almonds I pretend I don't and I will will will do at least 10 minutes of my varga girl style pilates exercises once a day. This is SERIOUS!!

Nook to meet you xx

We are currently looking to extend our 'parent retreat' to house a small sitting area, study nook and library and I love the feel of the nook below. As I have previously posted I have a little nook envy, I think it is a regression to cubby house envy - I was always desperate for a treehouse, a little space of my own, despite the fact that i was an only child and in reality the entire house was my own.

I had to add the image below - I just love it, but can see our water tanks being perpetually empty if the boys had one in their bathroom. It has a hypnotic quality about it I think is appealing.

The Devil is in the Detail

I am really drawn to this colour palette, I just don't have the discipline - I'm too much of a sucker for a splash of rose or moss green, without being too country that is. Modern rustic is the term used by Notebookmagazine.com where I sourced these lovely images, and I do like the ecletic mix this suggests. It has that homey feel without committing too much to one style or age. I like!

Phroaw!

via vi.sualise.com

At least today hasn't been as hot as the last two, I've never been much good at adapting to the change of seasons and this has really sent me a little loopy. I hope Iam not too old for it but I may need some really cute bobby pins to stop me going completely mad as I jump around in front of my fan too.

There are always Monday matters to attend to but sometimes you just need a few uplifting words to give you wings so to speak

Friday Loves .....

You can't but love a diorama, as long as you doing the gazing and not the creating. I would swiftly move from diorama straight to drama in one quick snip of the scissors.

Getting My Groove Back

The joy of being in St Germain at Le Editeurs famous literary bar with Steven's lovely sister, whilst her just as lovely husband looked after their very very lovely sleeping baby near by. Oh and the joy of sharing a bottle of Baileys and a chocolate souffle. Oh so lovely.

Water does not get any bluer or clearer, but oh for our sandy beaches - Positano
Just try to imagine the scale as you look at the small speck of white to the bottom of the frame. Such was the construction and layout the Romans could fill this entire structure in ten minutes. Inspiring, but blood curdling.
The Spanish Steps, just a vibrant hum from the many who chose to sit and ponder the unseasonally hot day wandering through cobbled streets where one may amble into a Roman Forum centuries old or the latest interior design layout in Prada.

Paris - detail, wealth, art and history know no boundaries

I have recently had an unexplained hiatus from blogging and have found it very hard to get any momentum since our return from our trip, which in fact seems a lifetime ago. Soooooooo, I though the best way to kick start is to look to the simple things to love that have inspired me lately................Am feeling simply better already. I hope you enjoy these images half as much as I have.

Bonjour Paris, Enchante!x

Between amazing facades, florists with shopfronts to rival the most sophisticated boutiques and not least the chocolate shops what is there not to tempt, love, gaze upon and dream about. The beauty is in the detail and I hope some of these little glimpses can express the detail in the everyday living.
Loved Paris and have a few more images to follow, however the South of France was equally enchanting as was Positano, almost just because of its difference.

We're Back!!

Hello, finally (a little sadly) getting back on track. I am aiming to upload my fav shots from the trip tonight so keep an eye out. Here is just a taste - flower markets everywhere how could you resist. No wonder every second person is sashaying along the street with a bunch of fresh blooms, how could you not feel the romance. xx
