Eygalieres, Provence

This is our next stop, a beautiful little village called Eygalieres just out from Avignon, Provence. We have booked at Chez Bruz - we are only here for two nights on the way down to Italy but it was a must stop. Terracotta pots and splashes of blue paint never looked so endearing.

Jolie Paris xxx

I have been a little preoccupied lately between monster parties and finalising details FOR OUR TRIP!! We leave next week and though only away for a short while you know you will feel better if every detail has been sorted and every bill paid etc before you leave, it is just madness in the meantime.
So here we have it, our first stop and where better - Place des Vosges in Marais Paris.
"Originally known as the Place Royale, the Place des Vosges was built by Henry IV from 1605 to 1612. A true square (140 m x 140 m), it embodied the first European program of royal city planning. It was built on the site of the Hôtel des Tournelles and its gardens: at a tournament at the Tournelles, a royal residence, Henri II was wounded and died. Catherine de Medicis had the Gothic pile demolished, and it was removed to the Louvre" via wikipedia.

There I am lounging on the grass in a very french way, casual but effortlessly elegant (perhaps I should practice that before I leave) nibbling/savouring/certainly not rampantly devouring a fresh crossaint. There I go with a swish of my just out of bed hair (may need to get extensions during stopver in Dubai). Tres chic! - should probably run through that french expressions cd again.

Thursday Thoughts

This image makes me feel just that bit cheerier. I have a 4 year old who is currently obsessed with flowers and gardens, we are trying to grow our own however we are in the early stages and have to supplement from our florist down the road. It is not the best time of year for huge blooms however Mr 4 tells me having his little posy "at the end of his bed reminds him of beautiful things and scares off nightmares" - these flowers actually make me feel a little the same way. Is there nothing better than the world through the eyes of a child.

Puppy Love

There are many reasons for choosing a particular dog for a particular family - I absolutely believe the most important is that it must match my favourite cushions, closely followed by gentle with children, obedient etc.

Hippy, Hippy Shack

all images via

If I was looking to shack up then this would be the shack for me. It is true to its shackiness and claims to be no other. I love it's cheer and joy in being what it is. I am having a little shack envy right now.

Oh La La!

image via la garconne

It's one of those days, my head is spinning from to0 many thoughts and my lists have been abandoned. At this point I can either have a coffee and a bag of chocolate almonds or immerse myself in fashion. Today, I choose clothes, more to the point my perfect Paris outfit. This image above would be the basis of all my Paris dressing , if only my legs were 4 inches longer and I was in fact the girl in the picture. Love it! xx 2 1/5 weeks to go!!!

Cool Spaces and Hot Coals

Image via architectural digest
We are currently having a landscape concept put together for a portion of our yard - fortunately a lot of it is quite steep and runs down to a creek so we don't have to think about it too much. One of my requests is a couple of trellised shady spaces around the childrens' play areas so we can sit and watch in cool comfort. In my dream it is just like the space above, however I would love a space a little more rustic just as much - I do love the lanterns though.
The image below though has given my another idea - a fire pit - maybe not right for the moment but as the boys grow. It is so clear out here at night I would love to use the outside areas more for gatherings esp for a family as large as ours. I'll add it to my list of hiding nooks, hammock nooks, vege garden, rose garden, provinical garden, rainforest corner and free on call gardener or two to keep it all looking fab.

Just the Two of Us

image via

It's the perfect pairing, there is something very calming about this image. It might be the balance, not too perfect but balanced nonetheless. I'm not too sure about the shelf over though, however I'm sure my friend and myself can cope with any falling dogs and cannisters with our usual aplomb. Now just which friend to invite to tea on my straight backed resting chairs, which may or may not actually be in my laundry, which may or may not feel a little odd when having tea - unless it is one of my very useful friends who enjoys folding baskets of clothes. Now that is starting to sound like a plan.

What Monday Blues?

Image via Indiennes des Provence
Feeling blue - it can only be a good thing if it's because your dreaming of these gorgeous fabrics like I am. There is blue and blue and this is definitely the yummiest blue of all. Now just what to cover, swathe and reupholster in these lovely hues. By the pool, on the deck endless options for a cool pool of blue.

Happy Mother's Day XXX

To everyone who has a mother, is a mother or a mother's helper - have a very lovely Mother's Day. Enjoy yourselves whether this includes your babies (regardless of age) or not. It may in fact involve just you, a fresh coffee and the Sunday paper in bed, by yourself and in the quiet. It may also involve a bustling family brunch with as much noise and madness you can muster. It's a mother's whim to choose- perhaps both xx

Boys to Men

I just spied these images of India Hicks home on a recent post by What I love about them is the mix of masculinity and endearing feeling that you could just fit right in and feel at home. It is a very welcoming home with little pretension or expectation in spite of its fabulousness, what else could be expected of India Hicks.

Also and I think very importantly, it feels like a home where three boys could grow up and be three boys. I love the boys bedroom so very much and having two boys myself whom insist on sharing a room, its exactly the sort of space I would love for them.

Everything Old is....

I love the contrast of the soft blooms with the tarnished metal surfaces. Love the contrast again in the combination of the refubished metal school chairs and that fabulous timber table. It's a little country and a little urban and looks gorgeous. I can smell the fresh tomatoes from here and wouldn't say no to one of those iced sweeties, if you must.

How Do I Get There?

Reading for Pleasure

I would love a space like this in my bedroom, I'm sure we have the space.
We have so many books, it's always a struggle to find a place for them - this would be perfect. I love the cosiness and the cushions of course. Just a place for a cup of coffee, I mean tea.
