Run Run As Fast As You Can !!

Found this on Pinterest - Julie Norton, a little off beat, off topic, off track I know however it made me laugh which has to be the ultimate simple thing to love. Hope it makes you laugh too. Please Note: after the laughter wore off, I was a little concerned by the fact that it was a little too close to home.

How lovely is this unique chandelier. It is made up of old mason jars by the clever people of BootsNGus on Etsy. BootsNGus have an entire collection of lighting configured around the upcycling of these jars. They have even thought to make a swag option or hardwired option available.
Don't throw those vegemite jars out just yet.

And One

via rubyanded.co.uk

It's part ballerina, part slipper, meet the gorgeous Ballerina Slipper from RubyandEd.co.uk. Call them a stocking filler, call a treat, call them anything you like as you throw away those old socks and pirouette around your boudoir having fancy thoughts about fanciful things. I think I will get and extra set for my hands, no particular reason except that maybe I can keep admire them as I whirl without falling over. Some things make more sense when you say them out loud.

Oh, This Old Thing ...

I love Australia and truly would not wish to live anywhere else, however I am a little sad that I don't have the opportunity to purchase myself an architectural facade for 30000 pound or two french mausoleums for 12000 pound. If I was in England I could, I could even do it online via http://www.leorec.co.uk/.

It is suggested the mausoleums would make fantastic garden structures, and wouldn't they just!

I really like this room. Someone else obviously really really likes this room and that is what makes it so fantastic.  It's bold - colour, it has passion - for butterflys and portraiture, it's comfy and inviting though daring - the couch.  It has personality and that is what creating one's own space is all about.  We all get an idea of what we should like or what other's like - under the pseudonym of style - ultimately you will/can never be comfortable until you embrace what is yours.

This is one small piece from my Nan's crystal and glass collection. I would love to know the original use of the dish and where the spoon came from. They are two separate pieces. It would be interesting and have they would have a story of their own I am sure, however for the moment I am happy using them as a salt dish and server. I love the idea of having a little bit of my Nan around me. I am sure she would have kept most of these treasures under key in her cabinet of precious pieces. I find them too lovely to lock away and make sure I pull out the "good stuff" as often as possible if not daily. It may be a cliche but life is too short not to share things of beauty, particularly the simple ones.

Friday Faves

via Rosieok @ etsy.com
Fat little amigurumi forest owls from Rosieok at Etsy are definitely a Friday fave for me. Rosieok gives you the pattern and details but the making of these cute little critters is up to you. Rosieok is an Australian contributer on Esty so she is way ok to me. Whooo Whooo Whooo wouldn't love their own little parliment of fat little owls xx

And Here It Is

via veranda.com

This could be my new front gate if I had some stone and a few druids to help me put it together. I just love it and had plenty more to say, however have a small 'simple thing to love" who is 5 years old and waiting for me to read The Faraway Tree falling asleep on my lap.

In Bloom

Picked up some fresh flowers today and planted about 7 pots. Everything looks so much fresher and springy. Will post images of my lovely pots tomorrow, simple and beautiful. I have just remembered I need to find a copy of "The Language of Flowers" by Vanessa Diffenbaugh.

“A deftly powerful story of finding your way home, even after you’ve burned every bridge behind you. The Language of Flowers took my heart apart, chapter by chapter, then reassembled the broken pieces in better working condition. I loved this book."

I bought these led tealights for a wedding however typically decided to keep them for myself. They are very sweet and now sit on different shelves of my lovely old silky oak bookcase. They are just beautiful at night and keep me company whilst on the computer.

Marvellous Monday

via MutualArt.com

I am certainly no art critic, I am not familar with the correct terms or artistic analysis, however when I see a art that moves me I find it hard to shake the image. I  love this painting by Guan Wei : Play at the Beach No11.  He is a Chinese-Australian artist who has since moved back to China under close watch by the Chinese authorities, as recently discussed in the Sydney Morning Herald. The article also noted it has been revealed he has panels of his art hanging on the walls of Cate Blanchett's Hunter's Hill home. These are only some of the panels from his Play at the Beach series.
He recently sold 4 Works: Without Interest, Nothing to say, Not Interested, Not Fun at Sotheby's for approx $21 765.00 AUD.

This linen swing back shirt from Witchery may not be high fashion, however it did have four people complementing me on the outfit today and wanting to know where I found it.  I matched it with a white racer back singlet, a season old knee length navy bubble type skirt and a pair of coral ropey tie up slip ons. Who would have thought! Spring is back people x

Tea, Coffee and Cake mmmmm

I was up last night doodling 27 morning tea invitation bookmarks for my youngest classmates' mums and dads.  This year has flown by so fast, I was all over this sort of thing in the first month of my other little boys Prep year - this year it has only taken until October.  There have been issues such as the front door fell off, we were overrun by brown snakes, the house was getting painted etc etc.  Anyway it will be lovely to see whoever can make it share our musings on the last months of the preppy year. They have all grown so much and become so confident.  It has taken several months but my preppy has now accepted that the birds that swoop him in the playground are Plovers not Plumbers as previously thought.

We will miss you Scrappy x

Very sad day today, as we have had to say goodbye to our much beloved cavoodle Scrappy. We have had endless tears. We have been out to buy flowers and a yellow rosebush to plant his own little garden bed and the boys chose two stone birds to keep him company at night. We are planting this afternoon and placing his toys and cards from the boys in a special place beside his garden.  We are having a picnic to say goodbye and tell him how much we loved him. It really is all too much, the hardest part was telling the boys. xx

Friday is always my favorite day

peregian beach

So many reasons to love Friday - last day of school for the week ie no groundhog day routine of empty dishwasher, make lunch, dress children, rush children, no you dont have a tummy ache, yes you have to go to school, yes I know you are tired, no you can not go to the toy shop after school why do you ask as the answer is always the same - I have a fabulous event to attend today the MS Canapes and Canvas lunch with a lovely group of girls I don't get the chance to catch up with enough for a wonderful, worthy cause - and finally but by no means least my lovely husband is picking me up from said event and we are shooting straight up to the, relax as soon as we see the water and smell the sea air, Peregian Beach. If the waves are anything like the image above I will have three very happy boys with me.
Wishing you a lovely weekend x

It's Spring it's not raining and cold, it's Spring it's not raining and cold ...

I am visualising Positano in the Summer, and not Brisbane in the Spring on this grey, cold, rainy day in October of all things. It is just unacceptable and predictably forcing me to eat chocolate and drink red wine to warm up. Devil!!

'Open Sesame'

image via content-agency.com

I have been thinking a lot about entries, gatehouses and the like lately. Our entry was a 'fly by the seat of your pants' affair and it really erks (a technical architectural term) me as it doesn't reflect the rest of our home. This is the start of documenting my search for inspiration... ta da! I do like this entry for some fairly basic reasons - it feels intimate as though you may need a password to enter, it is green and it is simple and achievable.

It's a Wrap!

Aren't these gorgeous, three pound per sheet of Cavallini and Co wrapping paper from RockettStGeorge.co.uk. Too good to wrap up the present, these deserve to be the present don't you think.

What would I like for my birthday?

Whenever I am asked this question, I invariably say "nothing" because at any given moment in time that is all that comes to mind as I am not really needing anything. However I would certainly not turn my nose down at this simple but beautiful 'Footed Platte' from Grayworksdesign on Etsy. I would also insist that it always be referred to in this manner as it is as charming as the "Platte" itself.

13 months give or take a day...

After 6 months of complacency and 7 months of lack of modem access due to issues telstra 'can't explain except that they have no requirement to allow quality internet access just some form of internet access", I am returning again, yes the prodigal child. I have missed this outlet and after months of wondering what was next have decided this again is the medium that may provide the answer. Hope you enjoy the journey.
Cloisonne Floral Trend September 2011 @ Vogue.com.au I will be definitely my digging out  mum's old Cloisonne Bangles for this one. Love the image not sure if the reality is for me.
