4 days on Moreton Island

From our campsite we were able to capture a lovely view, perfect for afternoon wine and cheese accompanied by whale watching. A little chilly so we also had a fire on the burn to keep us warm into the night, along with thermals, socks, beanies scarves, blankets, red wine, hot chocolate, toasted marshmellows etc.

The pristine beach of Moreton Island, the water was so very glassy green - the photo does not do it justice.

A glass of Moet is our style of camping (along with almost running out of drinking water and sharing washing water out of a bucket), this was our little picnic up near the rock pools of Yellowpatch. We had just spotted a wild boar and the kids were besides themselves. After a brisk walk to the lookout over Honeymoon Bay, Rach and I were also treated with some dolphin and whale spotting. Perfect x
Nothing makes  a camping holiday better though than the friends you share it with and whilst I would like to share more photos I make a point of not including photos of friends without their permission and I ran out of time to ask today. However we had three little boys and one crazy little girl, who all had a wonderful time and swam in ice cold water and learnt to fish (and catch one and each it fresh) and spotted whales, wild boars and sand taboggin on giant sand dunes doing 50km an hour. We also had four adults who prepared it, set it up, kicked back and enjoyed great company ( and food and wine). Lucky us, hey!

Interesting Lives ...

Architects: Form Us With Love, Haberdash store, Stockholm
Form us with love  is a design collective in Stockholm. Below is a quote from their webpage - when your job is your passion "dedication" comes naturally I would think.

If there is one word that sums up Swedish design studio FORM US WITH LOVE it is ‘dedication’. Never keen on hanging around for things to happen, it has always used its own initiative to get to where it wants to be. FUWL have always had a very broad scope as designers, they aren’t simply designing products but everything surrounding it too.
FUWL was started in 2005 by John Löfgren, Jonas Pettersson, and Petrus Palmér. They met studying Product Design at Kalmar University, in deepest, darkest Småland, a county in southern Sweden known to be the heartland of Swedish furniture manufacturing.
Even if the number of products that carries its name is big for a relatively young design studio, the biggest achievement for FUWL isn’t the actual product, but the process of thinking, creating and communicating design. Through its relentless search for new opportunities and collaborations FUWL has shown that there are still great opportunities right under our noses. FUWL’s ambition is to be part in creating the top design companies around and has a strong belief that holistic design thinking is the way to get there."

On the fence...

or over the table as the case may be.  I want to like this light, however is feels a little like someone's wringing out my petticoat. What do you think - Yay or Nay?

These Days

The view from the shed at the moment, a little bleak and wet, though I quite like it this way.
There is a little sense of comfort holed up in my own little space whilst it is raining just outside the door, the only downside being the muddy run to the house everytime I forget my safety glasses, water, stuff etc etc

Finally finished this piece last night a little different to the picture, will post on the weekend.

Back to School

Just getting my feet firmly back on mother earth after a wonderful 15 year wedding anniversary extended weekend away in Melbourne. Such a wonderful city for just pottering around eating, pottering, drinking and pretty much so on and so on.

We were sans children and remembering what life was like without schedules, and the like. That said we couldn't wait to get our hands on them on Sunday, gorgeous little things that they are. School's back, schedules are in place, however we have all slept in every day this week. Our bodies are still lingering in holiday mode, don't tell the boys but school sucks!
